Discover the best cafes in Taipei with our curated guide to must-visit coffee spots. From hidden gems to popular favorites, explore where locals go for exceptional coffee and ambiance.
Taipei’s coffee scene is thriving, with hidden gems tucked into historic neighbourhoods and mountain retreats that offer more than just great brews—they’re destinations in their own right. Here are some of my favourite cafes I have gathered during my many trips to Taipei.

1. Luguo Cafe, Dadaocheng
Nestled in the atmospheric Dadaocheng district, Luguo Cafe perfectly captures the essence of old meets new Taipei. This charming spot sits among traditional tea merchants and fabric shops, occupying a beautifully restored upstairs space that honours the neighbourhood’s rich trading history. The cafe serves meticulously crafted pour-overs alongside Taiwanese tea-infused drinks that pay homage to the area’s heritage. The large windows light up the cozy space and I always enjoy a cup of hand drip as they roast their own beans. The relaxed vibe makes it ideal for lingering over a book or simply soaking in Dadaocheng’s unique character.

2. Triangle Garden Cafe, Zhongshan
Hidden away from the youthful buzz of Zhongshan, Triangle Garden Cafe feels like your best friend’s home. Every corner in this upstairs cafe looks like a scene right out of a Taiwanese movie. The multiple armchairs are perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading.
3. Fong Da Coffee, Ximending
Fong Da Coffee is a Taipei institution that’s been serving siphon coffee since 1956. Located in the heart of Ximending’s shopping district, this retro cafe offers a fascinating contrast to the area’s contemporary energy. You smell the place before you even see it. Step inside and you’re transported to mid-century Taiwan, complete with vintage fixtures and traditional siphon brewing methods. Take home a bag of beans as the perfect souvenir from your Taipei coffee adventure.

4. Angle Cafe – Da’an Park
Just steps from the expansive Da’an Forest Park, Angle Coffee attracts joggers, dog walkers, and remote workers seeking a caffeine fix. The place is ideal if you need to get work done or simply want to enjoy your espresso without distraction. I absolutely love their carrot cake. After your visit, take a stroll through neighbouring park to join the locals on their afternoon stroll to walk off that caffeine buzz. Try to spot the pair of mandarin ducks in the pond.
5. Beans & Coffee Roasting House – Yuanshan
For serious coffee enthusiasts, this roastery-cafe is a pilgrimage site. Beans & Coffee Roasting House, just a minute away from Yuanshan station, takes full control of the coffee journey, roasting their own beans on-site and experimenting with single origins from around the globe. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee greets you at the door, and knowledgeable staff are happy to discuss flavour profiles, roast levels, and brewing techniques. Perfect for a cuppa before or after visiting the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts.

6. Cama Coffee – Yangmingshan
Perched in the Yangmingshan mountains, this Cama Coffee location transforms the chain experience into something extraordinary. While Cama has locations throughout Taipei, this mountain outpost situated in a traditional Japanese house offers stunning views alongside reliable, quality coffee at accessible prices. It’s the perfect pit stop after hiking through Yangmingshan’s volcanic landscapes. If you are like me and it rains every time you attempt to hike in Yangmingshan, this spot is a perfect hideout.
